In brief, you should know the following about us: The Enfield Earth Keepers are a non-profit organization originating since 2005 to provide the youth of Enfield and surrounding areas with an opportunity to learn work skills and the benefits of giving back to their communities through volunteer work.
They provide services to the community such as yard work, mowing, gardening, wood stacking, snow shoveling, etc.
Our business is located at [The old train station in Elmsdale].

Why is the Enfield Earth Keepers program important?

For every four hours of paid work that the youth do, they must volunteer one hour of their time towards the beautification of the community.  This helps to provide them with the understanding of what it means to have pride in where they live – a life lesson which will stay with them forever.

What are some of the notable things that the Earth Keepers
program has accomplished?

The Enfield Earth Keepers has grown exponentially in it’s three years from a small group of youth organized by Enfield Home Hardware/Scotian Homes to a non-profit organization with five summer students to act as the coordinator/supervisors and 60 youth between the ages of 12 to 17 all eager to be involved in the program.

Enfield Earth Keepers Goals:

To provide youth with strong work ethic and skills

To teach youth the value of community

To provide youth with valuable life lessons to help them make positive choices for now and in their future.

Enfield Earth Keepers Vision and Mission:

To have a community of confident, well-rounded youth who are respectful of others and their community.

To have the youth take ownership of their communities and focus their energy in a positive way.

The program has worked very well with the youth.
They have participated in extra activities such as tours of Province house, Supreme Court Nova Scotia, jails, RCMP dogs with drug sniffing ability, and played football and basketball with Saint Mary’s University teams and played hockey, ruby and baseball locally.
