The Earthkeepers are a non-profit organization originating in 2005 providing the youth of Enfield and surrounding areas with an opportunity to learn work skills and the benefits of giving back to their communities through volunteer work. They provide services to the community such as yard work, mowing, gardening, wood stacking, snow shoveling, etc.

Why is the Earthkeepers program important?

For every four hours of paid work that the youth do, they must volunteer one hour of their time towards the beautification of the community. This helps to provide them with the understanding of what it means to have pride in where they live - a life lesson which will stay with them forever.

What are some of the notable things that the Earth Keepers program has accomplished?

The Earthkeepers has grown exponentially in it’s fives years from a small group of youth organized by Enfield Home Hardware/Scotian Homes to a non-profit organization with five summer students to act as the coordinator/supervisors and 60 youth between the ages of 12 to 17 all eager to be involved in the program.

Earthkeepers Goals:
  • To provide youth with a strong work ethic and skills
  • To teach youth the value of community
  • To provide youth with valuable life lessons to help them make positive choices for now and in their future.

Earthkeepers Vision and Mission:

  • To have a community of confident, well-rounded youth who are respectful of others and their community.
  • To have the youth take ownership of their communities and focus their energy in a positive way.
